ServantCARE is an evangelical cross-denominational Christian ministry committed to serving missionaries, pastors, and those in ministry. We do not supplant the support provided by mission agencies or ministries, but rather seek to enhance that care by providing additional, as well as supplemental services. Almost every mission agency cares deeply for its personnel, and provides training, encouragement, and support for them. Often, most of the contact comes while they are home. A few receive on-field visits. We seek to care for the whole person, providing for their unique needs. Ministry families come to us from all areas of the world, some needing quiet rest, some needing healing from wounds of conflict and persecution, others simply needing to be heard, understood and supported in their time of trials. Whatever the needs, we seek to always be instruments of refreshment and restoration.
"True spiritual leadership refers to people who are so deeply in love with Jesus that they are ready to follow Him wherever He guides them, always trusting that with Him, they will find life and find it abundantly."
The Apostle John commended those who ministered to the itinerant ministers in his day, and we should certainly do no less for today's missionaries.
Beloved, you are acting faithfully in whatever you accomplish for the brethren, and especially when they are strangers; and they bear witness to your love before the church; and you will do well to send them on their way in a manner worthy of God. For they went out for the sake of the Name, accepting nothing from the Gentiles. Therefore we ought to support such men, that we may be fellow workers with the truth.
Decades ago when God called our directors out of "market place ministry" they began asking Him where they were going. He was silent until one day the question was asked, "Could you define for us a little of what it is you want us to do?" The response was a reminder of a key ring with a little box hanging from it. The lid could be lifted and a voice inside cried "Help!" Lifting it again you heard, "Is there anybody out there?" Lifting it the third time you heard, "Will somebody please let me out of here?" God then said very clearly, "There are millions of Christians in boxes just like that and I want you to let them out." Thus began the days of listening how He wanted them to do that and ultimately it became abundantly clear that ServantCARE was the way. Thus, our logo designed by Greg Lee of His Everlasting Love Prevails (H.E.L.P.).
The S indicates how frazzled God's servants can become, while the box indicates the condition in which many servants find themselves. There are a multitude of reasons people find themselves boxed in. Often, it is because the fit is not right, or perhaps God is trying to get their attention. Sometimes the frazzled condition arises as they begin to break out of the box. Other times they may find themselves boxed in when they have been treated unjustly and are deeply hurt. Psalm 34:18 says, "The Lord is near the brokenhearted, and saves those who are crushed in spirit." The reasons for being frazzled or in a box are as numerous as there are people. As we sit and listen and pray we want to help the person come to a point of wholeness. On rare occasions there is sin. God always has redemptive purposes - even when sin is involved. Hebrews 4:5 reminds us, "For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin." James 2:13 also reminds us that "...mercy triumphs over judgment." He is our redeemer and healer. Notice how things smooth out as there is movement toward the Father’s loving heart and the cross. Our desire through love, caring, listening, praying, personal ministry, meeting practical needs, and connecting is to point them to the Father's heart - on the field if necessary. WE CARE!
